The first photos from the Dongfeng pickup tests appeared on the web in May 2018. Now fresh pictures have been published, on which the model lost part of the camouflage. Plus, the paparazzi managed to look into the salon of the novelty of the Chinese company. The name of the Dongfeng pickup truck is not yet revealed. According to preliminary data, the official premiere of the truck is scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year.
The new Dongfeng pickup truck is built on the basis of the Nissan Navara frame of the current generation (factory index – D23), which has a rear axle, a rigidly connected four-wheel drive and a rear differential lock. In China, Dongfeng has a joint venture with Nissan, which produces Navara for the local market.
Externally from the “donor” Chinese truck is distinguished by the design of the front: the model received a different bumper and radiator grille, new headlights with integrated LED strips of daytime running lights. The interior of the Chinese has also been redesigned: a new steering wheel, a multimedia system and a climate control unit, round air deflectors instead of rectangular ones.
Chinese media reports that the novelty Dongfeng will be available with 184-hp gasoline atmospheric engine QR25 2.5 from Navara (251 Nm). At a pickup of the Japanese brand this engine is combined with a five- or six-speed manual and seven-speed automatic transmission. In addition, for the Dongfeng truck, according to preliminary data, diesel will still be available, which is not provided for the local version of Navara.
