Electric kit for Porsche 911 will cost at least 75 thousand dollars

California-based Vonnen Performance introduced the kit for the Porsche 911, Cayman and Boxster, which turns sports cars into hybrids. After the improvements, the mass of cars increases by only 50 kilograms, and the increase in power is 177 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque.

The offer of the tuners is as follows: instead of a flywheel, the Porsche is fitted with an electric motor-generator, its own control unit, a traction battery with a capacity of one kilowatt-hour and an inverter. The mode of operation of the electric motor is adjusted depending on the vehicle speed, the number of revolutions of the crankshaft and the position of the accelerator pedal. You can update the firmware of the control unit through a special application for smartphones.

The control units of the electric motor and the internal combustion engine work separately from each other. Stock engine electrical system is perceived as, for example, the action of gravity when driving downhill. It is impossible to drive only an electric unit with such an installation, but it has an energy recovery function and separate cooling circuits for the electric motor and battery.

The cost of the kit for cars of 2012 and under is at least 75 thousand dollars. In addition, the company is working on adapting the installation for Porsche with “air” engines, released from 1965 to 1997.
