The Japanese automaker surprised fans with its own version of the Toyota RAV4: the Suzuki Across. The copied crossover will begin shipping later this month, and Suzuki has already announced the cost.

European dealers will be able to sell the Suzuki Across for 65,000 euros. Considering that the petrol version of the Toyota RAV4 is already available at a price of 39,495 euros, and the Toyota hybrid is priced at 44,795 euros, this is quite an impressive amount.

This difference in price is said to be justified by the powertrain option because the Suzuki Across arrives in Europe exclusively as a plug-in hybrid. The same powertrain has been announced for the Toyota crossover, but it has yet to receive a price tag.

Under the hood, the Across is a 2.5-liter petrol engine producing 185 hp. works in conjunction with an 183 hp electric motor. The total system power is 306 hp. Across has to travel 75 kilometers solely on electricity. The maximum towing weight of this version is 1500 kg.

While 65,000 euros is a very significant amount, the model gets a complete set of equipment, including, for example, LED lighting, heated seats, 19-inch alloy wheels and a 9-inch touchscreen for multimedia with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. It should be noted a number of safety systems, such as Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Road Sign Assist (RSA) and Lane Tracing Assist (LTA).

According to the Suzuki press service, the order logs for the model are already open. The Japanese automaker expects to deliver the first copies by the end of this month.
