What is known about the crossover Mercedes-Benz GLS 2020?January 5, 2019
The current version of the German crossover Mercedes-Benz GLS has long been in need of an update. Sales started back in 2012, and at that time this car was called the GL-Class.
Brand new version of the model is just around the corner. Judging by the test prototypes seen, the new Mercedes-Benz GLS has become similar to the wider version of the GLE crossover.
In front of the new model there is a hefty false radiator grille, LED headlights with “vertical” DRL turn signals, and not small air intakes in the front bumper. The salon, which is designed for 7 passengers, will receive the latest infotainment system MBUX with satellite navigation, enhanced massage options and lighting with more than 60 colors.
The new GLS will be built on the MHA platform.
This means that it will offer such improvements as the E-Active Body Control System, a 48-volt electrical system that can individually control each air suspension shock absorber.
A variety of engine variants will be offered (using “soft” hybrid technology), including a 286 hp turbo diesel engine. (600 Nm) and 340 hp (700 Nm). A petrol version of the 3.0-liter 362 hp engine will be offered. (500 Nm). The more powerful Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 will get a 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 engine. All this power in any case will be transmitted to all four wheels through a 9-speed automatic transmission.
We look forward to the official debut of Mercedes-Benz GLS in 2019, perhaps at the Frankfurt Motor Show (Germany) in September, or maybe the car will be shown at the New York Auto Show in April.
Not so long ago, we wrote that the new generation Mercedes S-Class will get a hybrid.
