Atelier Westfalia is probably the most famous tourist car manufacturer. These guys made awesome camping cars from the German Volkswagen Transporter vans. Now they decided to take the premium Mercedes-Benz Sprinter as a basis for their next project. Autohouse was named James Cook 2019.

The machine makes the most of the limited space of the original van thanks to the built-in sleeping area, which is located at the rear. While driving, the panel retracts into the body to make the car shorter, but when it comes time to rest, the bed can be expanded. There is also an additional pop-up roof, which is needed to increase the height of the reserve.

According to the company, the retractable sleeping area unfolds in less than 40 seconds. The extended space is 2.07 meters long and 1.4 meters wide.

The infotainment system with a touch screen in the central panel received controls for the motorhome. Duplicate controls are available in a residential area or in a smartphone application.

Currently, Westfalia does not offer complete information about the interior of James Cook 2019. Judging from the published images, inside the car there is a sink, a cooktop and a refrigerator. It is noteworthy that in these pictures there are no signs that there is a place in the interior for a toilet or shower. The combination of white and black in the interior is spartan, but very modern.

Westfalia offers James Cook in three body styles. The basic version has a metal roof, four beds and two sleeping areas. Another option was a “pop-up” roof, a bed for four people. The most expensive modification can boast a high roof of fiberglass, four beds and is designed for four.
