Volkswagen spoke about the serial version of ID Hatch, with the design of the concept

The German concern is already preparing for the release of its electrified line of ID cars. The first electric car of the company will be the hatchback ID Hatch, the design of which will be almost identical to the concept.

ack in 2016, the light saw the first concept of a fully electric car Volkswagen ID Hatch. And this model has become a symbol of a whole line of upcoming electric cars from the German concern. The first production cars will appear in 2019, and now some details are known.

So, representatives of the company officially confirmed the information that the serial hatchback will save the futuristic design of the concept.

“The dimensions, the projection of the headlights and the size of the wheels coincide with the concept. Looks like a show car. We could not make rear-view mirrors with the camera for legal reasons, and also door handles with electric drive because of the cost. But, besides this, everything else is the same, “VW designer Klaus Bischoff said in an interview for Autocar.

Also, the feature of this line will be a unique design that is not characteristic even for the company itself, but all cars will receive a common corporate style concept that is in line with the spirit of the times, as well as the ideas of a “green” car.

It is assumed that the finish of the car will be made exclusively from materials obtained during the processing of secondary raw materials. Whether the finish is using genuine leather or wood is still unknown. It is likely that the wooden elements will also be from secondary raw materials. But the skin may be exclusively artificial.

As the power unit on the hatchback will be installed electric motor, capable of developing up to 168 horsepower. The capacity of the battery is not yet reported, but the claimed range will be about 600 horsepower.

Naturally, the cost is also unknown, but judging by the current pricing policy, you can expect a cost of 35,000 euros for the basic equipment, and about 45,000 euros for the top-end. However, all data are assumed.

Meanwhile, on June 24, at the annual Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) competition, the Volkswagen sports team will try to set a new absolute record. Especially for this was built an electric car Volkswagen I.D. R, the characteristics of which have already been revealed.
