The first serial electric hatchback Volkswagen will make it look like a prototype I.D., which was introduced in 2016 at the Paris Motor Show. As reported by Autocar with reference to the chief designer of the German brand Klaus Bischoff.

“Overall dimensions, body parts and wheel diameters will be repeated concept. It looks like a show car. We could not install the cameras in place of the rear mirrors, it is still prohibited by law. The prototype of the hatchback was equipped with a 170-horsepower electric motor and a set of batteries, providing a power reserve without recharging in 500 kilometers.

It is expected that in 2030 the concern Volkswagen will invest 20 billion euros in the development of cars with electric and hybrid power plants. After the environmentally friendly hatchback will be a crossover, minivan and flagship sedan.

By 2025 the Germans are planning to launch more than 20 cars with electric power units in the series. In 2030, the number of electric cars developed within the group will reach 300 items.
