Volkswagen presented the final design of a racing electric car

Volkswagen published a video, which shows the final design of the racing electric vehicle I.D. R Pikes Peak. At the end of June 2018, the German team will try to set a new world record for it in the Pikes Peak climb race among cars with fully electric engines.

The gray electric appliance under number “94” is equipped with two electric units – one on each axis. The engines, in total giving out 670 hp, are powered by lithium-ion batteries located on both sides of the cockpit. Plus, Volkswagen I.D. R Pikes Peak is equipped with a kinetic energy recovery system during braking.

An electromobile, whose mass together with the pilot does not exceed 1100 kg, is capable of accelerating from place to 100 km / h in 2.25 seconds. Run the car will be the French racer Romain Dumas.

Competition on the American Mount Pikes Peak in the state of Colorado will be held on June 24. To set a new record for Volkswagen I.D.
