Volkswagen Polo – the leader in the segment of compact cars of the world market

The volume of sales of compact cars in the first half of 2018 increased by 4.0% – to 6.94 million units, the agency focus2move informs. It refers to this type of model, whose length is from 3.5 to 4.1 meters.

The most popular compact model with a significant distance from the nearest pursuer was the Volkswagen Polo. In January-June this year Polo’s sales increased by 8.3% and amounted to 375 590 units, in June 74.13 machines (+ 10%) were sold. Let’s remind, Polo has risen on the conveyor in far 1975 and for all time has been let out by circulation more than 12 million copies.

The second place is occupied by Renault Clio with 226 041 sold cars, which is 2.6% more than last year. The Ford Fiesta tops the third with approximately the same volume – 218,674 units, although the American model has a sales decline of 5.2%.

The greatest dynamics is shown by the Indian Maruti Dzire – in June the sales of the model grew by 103.0%, and in the first six months of this year by 73.7% – to 24 465 and 140 441 units, respectively.
