Volkswagen must pay 1 billion euros in the case of Dieselgate

After numerous disputes, the largest German automaker agreed with all the claims brought against it and undertakes to pay a fine of one billion euros in due time

1 billion euros – this is the penalty to pay the German automaker for the so-called diesel scandal. Let’s remind our readers that in the 4th quarter of 2015, around diesel cars that were produced by Volkswagen, as they say, a major scandal broke out, which journalists dubbed as “dieselgate”. The point was that a group of fighters for the cleanliness of the environment found that almost all cars of the giant car concern Volkswagen AG (which includes a lot of famous brands) equipped with diesel power units, use a special application, “thanks to” which at times the level decreases emissions into the atmosphere of harmful substances.

In the meantime, in the Volkswagen AG Concern, it was separately noted that in no case are they going to appeal the court decision, because they believe that it is necessary to overcome this scandal as soon as possible.

The German Prosecutor General’s Office concluded that between mid-2007 and 2015, a total of 10,700,000 Volkswagen vehicles with similar hidden “chips” were sold. So, here is the actual formulation, according to which a huge penalty was issued: “The German automaker did not exercise timely control over which cars and with what software are exiting from its enterprises.”

Not without a special share of joy, the representatives of the concern also said that after everything is completed and Volkswagen AG will be removed all charges, he will be able to, what is called “breathe a deep breast.”
