Updated Baojun 510 is completely declassified on official photos

Pictures of the compact SUV, which survived the restyling, have appeared on the Web before, including without any camouflage. However, this time, General Motors and SAIC pleased Chinese bestseller fans with official photos.

The first commercial copies of the budget GM and SAIC crossover, the Baojun 510, appeared at Chinese auto shows in February 2017, several months after the official debut at the exhibition in Guangzhou. The new SUV, created by the two brands, immediately got loyal fans. By April, the novelty has already worn the title of bestseller, and in 2018, the cross has twice become the leader of the ranking of the most popular crossovers and SUVs in China, ahead of Haval H6 in terms of sales.

In the spring of this year, the interest of Chinese motorists to Baojun 510 began to fall, which was marked by a decline in sales. The situation should have been upgraded by the current generation of the cross.

An updated version of the “budget” has acquired LED head optics, new rear lights, which have now become more elegant and narrower, and modified bumpers, upgraded “foglights” and another grille.

Inside, the restyled model now flaunts advanced multimedia with support for voice control and the ability to use a smartphone. There are no fundamental changes in the exterior design of the cabin and its architecture. The dimensions of the updated Baojun 510 remained unchanged: length – 4,220 mm, width – 1,740 mm, height – 1,615 mm, wheelbase – 2,550 mm.

The new crossover got all the same gasoline “aspirated” with a working volume of one and a half liters and an impact of 112 horsepower. Combined such a power unit with a 6-speed manual or robotized transmission. All-wheel drive is still not provided, even as an option. The cost of the restyled version of Baojun 510 has not yet been disclosed. It is known that the new product will be released this fall.

For comparison, the most affordable “pre-reform” Baojun 510 today costs 54,800 yuan to motorists from the Middle Kingdom. Cars with the maximum range of options and additional equipment costs 76,800 yuan.
