A five-door new generation was introduced in Japan.
In the Japanese market, the global hatch Toyota Corolla debuted, although previously there was sold another Corolla, built on the basis of the Yaris – the E160 series, and the world market sold the model of the E170 series.
Japanese new generation Corolla hatchback, the length of which is 4 735 mm, from the European version of the five-door Toyota Auris and the new American Toyota Corolla is practically no different – another icon in front and other design of lighting equipment. The interior is exactly the same, except for the location of the steering wheel on the opposite side. The car received a similar rear multi-link suspension, but another composition of the power scale.
In Japan, the five-door hatchback Corolla will be equipped with identical with the crossover Toyota C-HR engines, as the models share the same platform. As part of the hybrid system, the 2ZR-FXE engine (at the Atkinson cycle) operates in a volume of 1.8 liters in combination with an electric motor and an electromechanical variator. For complete sets with turbo engine 8NR-FTS in capacity of 1,2 liters it is offered six-speed manual transmission iMT6 or variator Super CVT-i. There is a four-wheel drive hatch with a turbocharger and variator coupling.
In the home market for the new hatchback Toyota Corolla will be available control system vector thrust ACA and adaptive suspension and the system selection of chassis settings (5 modes). As an option, the car can be equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense 2 complex, which includes traffic assistants within the band and a system for recognizing road signs.
Orders for a novelty in Japan will begin to be accepted at the end of June. Probably, closer to the beginning of sales, the cost and characteristics of power plants will be announced.
