The company Toyota presented a prototype of a 1000-hp hypercar called GR Super Sport Concept, which gives an idea of the direction in which the line of sports cars of the Japanese brand will develop. The premiere of the concept will be held at the Tokyo Motor Show, which opens at the end of this week.
The novelty is developed by the sports division of Toyota – Gazoo Racing. The vehicle design uses components from the TS050 Hybrid sports prototype, which participates in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). Including, from the racing car, the hypercar has got a 2.4-liter twin-turbo “six” with direct injection, which is part of the hybrid power plant. Its total capacity is 1000 forces.
Other information about GR Super Sport in the “Toyota” is not provided. The company only clarified that they wanted this concept to show how it is possible “to create sports cars from operating racing cars.”
“Instead of turning serial cars into racing, we intend to understand how to use our know-how in various racing series, including rally, in civilian models,” said Shigeki Tomoyama, president of Gazoo Racing.
Earlier, in the official Twitter of Toyota, there was information that GR Super Sport Concept could go to the marathon “24 Hours of the Nurburgring 2018”.
