The open-top Volkswagen T-Roc is spotted for the first time on tests.

Volkswagen launched a new modification of the open-top T-Roc crossover. Spy photos were uploaded by Motor1. According to them, the production of the machine should begin in 2020. Total German brand plans to invest 80 million euros in this project. Production of the model will be organized at a factory in Osnabruck.

Judging from the photographs, the design of the car will hardly differ from the standard T-Roc, which was presented in 2017 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. A two-door car will shrink in size and get a front-wheel drive system. According to unofficial data, the car will receive a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with a return of 150 hp. A 2.0-liter gasoline engine will also be presented. The power of this unit will be 190 hp

At the moment, only a few brands can boast of open crossovers. So, Land Rover experimented with the popular Range Rover Evoque, adding a soft folding top and spoiler. Previously, something similar was released Nissan (Murano with a soft top) and Chrysler (PT Cruiser convertible).

The T-Roc crossover in the Volkswagen model range is one notch below the Tiguan model. Overall length of the machine is 4234 mm, width – 1819 mm, and height – 1573 mm. It is 252 mm shorter, 11 mm wider and 131 mm below the second generation Tiguan crossover. The luggage compartment volume is 445 liters, and with the rear seats folded down – 1290 liters.
