The next generation Jaguar F-type will get a new engine from BMW.

The Jaguar F-type model has existed since 2013 and now work on changing the generation is in full swing. According to the British edition of Sar, the developers decided to remake the sports coupe in a radical way.

Not hastily sold F-type will replace the generation in 2020. As reported by insiders, the model will become more spacious and with the same lighter. It is expected that both versions of the body will be preserved: the coupe (on the main photo) and the soft-top roadster. Recall that the British company sells its cars worldwide.

But it seems that Jaguar aims to create a competitor to the Porsche 911, since the two-seater F-type is planned to be converted to a 2+2 landing formula, which will make it more practical. According to sources, the new architecture that underlies the future sports car has received a new name PLA-D7b. It will use aluminum alloys, which is a significant difference from the current D6a.

The so-called Jennifer project is the codename of the new power unit, which is a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 from BMW. And he will have to change the old 5-liter V8, originally patented by Ford. The same economical engine is likely to eventually be installed on the elite Range Rover and other models of the company. Basic versions will be offered with the same two-liter Ingenium engine.

Rumors that the F-type will be mid-engine and remained rumors. Rather, it was all about another upcoming model. The location of the motor at the sports car will remain in front, as well as the presence of a rear-wheel drive.

There is information about a purely electric version with a battery capacity of 100 kW/h and two electric motors with a power of 150 kW and 350 Nm each. Electric car can be expected only from 2023, since the power plant for it is still in development.

Meanwhile, the company’s engineers were able to make an incredibly fast Jaguar XE Project 8. It was equipped with a 601-horsepower engine that accelerates the sedan to a maximum of 322 km / h.
