The serial version of the sports car Toyota Supra, though still hidden by camouflage, took part in the hill climbing race that took place at the Festival of Speed in Goodwood. Video arrivals are posted on the official YouTube channel of the event.
During the race at the wheel of the sports car was the chief engineer of the Toyota Supra project Tetsuya Tada. Rear-wheel-drive coupe is equipped with a three-liter six-cylinder engine with a capacity of 340 horsepower (500 Nm) and a robotic gearbox with two clutches. It is assumed that the 100 km/h such a machine can be typed in 4.5 seconds.
The new Supra the Japanese are developing together with BMW. Under the Bavarian brand will be a version of the same car with a different design, chassis and power plant settings. Models will have a common platform, but otherwise their similarity will be minimal.
Next year, Toyota will also make a racing version of the Supra coupe. Such a car will participate in the American racing series NASCAR.
Sales of the civilian coupe will begin in the first half of 2019. The prices of the model are not yet called, however according to the top manager of the Japanese brand, “the car will not be exactly cheap”.
