The network has the first journalistic reviews of the next-generation prototype Porsche 911 with an index of 992. Sport cars will receive an eight-step “robot” with two clutches, electronic tidy and a completely new interior.
Major changes in the design of sports cars are not expected. As reported by Autocar, the overall length of the car will slightly change and increase, due to the tougher requirements for the safety of pedestrians in case of an accident, the size of the front overhang. Also, cars of the new generation can be identified by the longitudinal edges on the trunk lid in front, the LED strip between the lamps and the third brake light in the form of two vertical bars.
The cabin will change the entire front panel and the architecture of the central tunnel, on which an electronic gearbox joystick will appear. The dashboard will become completely digital, but with a single analogue pointer – a tachometer.
A three-liter six-cylinder turbo engine will receive a new aluminum exhaust manifold and an increase in power. Now on the usual Carrera he gives out 370 forces, and on the S-version – 420 hp. According to preliminary data, with the release of a new generation, the output will be 385 and 450 hp, respectively. The coupe with the last of these units will be able to dial the “hundred” in less than four seconds.
The seven-speed manual transmission of the model will remain, but the place of the former robotized transmission will be taken by an eight-speed PDK transmission with two clutches, developed in conjunction with the firm ZF. Apparently, this will be a version of the box, already installed on the Porsche Panamera and Bentley Continental GT.
In addition, the new 911 will expand the front track and even on the simplest versions, a fully-controlled chassis will appear as an option.
Earlier it was reported that the premiere of the new 911 will take place by the end of this year.
