According to CEO Peugeot, it’s time to expand the offer of crossovers of the company, because this segment of the market continues to grow.
French automotive brand is developing a coupe-like crossover Peugeot. Its release will be closer to the beginning of 2020. The novelty can get already well-known index 4008. About it informs edition Auto Express referring to general director Peugeot Jean-Phillip Imparato.
The French brand already has two crossover 3008 and 5008, united by a common EMP2 platform and a similar design. As you know, 5008 can be considered an extended seven-seat version of 3008. However, this architecture will become the basis for another crossover. They may be the future of the cross-coupe.
The European version of the 4008 concern PSA stopped producing in 2017. The place was vacant. Therefore, a coupe-like crossover for the European market can get this index. The body of such proportions implies a sloping roof and a minimum of space above the heads of the rear passengers. However, engineers are developing for him a full five-seater salon.
The novelty will receive a more sporty suspension tuning, unlike its 3008 and 5008 counterparts. The engine range is predicted to be borrowed from them. The base will be a three-cylinder turbo engine PureTech. Also, a 1.6-liter THP engine from the DS 7 crossover will be offered. The diesel line will consist of 1.6 and 2.0 liter engines. It is expected that the new cross-coupe will acquire two hybrid versions based on the 1.6 THP engine. They will differ in the number of electric motors: one or two. The total capacity will be 240 hp. and 300 hp. respectively.
