Mercedes-AMG presented a “charged” version of the new generation G-Class SUV, which was completed with a 685-strong unit. The public premiere of Mercedes-AMG G 63 will take place in early March at the Geneva Motor Show.
The SUV was equipped with a four-liter supercharged V8 unit with two “twin-scroll” turbines with a variable geometry of the impeller, which replaced the previous 5.5-liter V8 engine. The engine produces 585 hp and 850 No torque, which is 14 forces and 90 Nm higher than the yield of the predecessor unit.
The inflatable G8 works in tandem with the 9-speed AMG Speedshift TCT and the AMG Performance 4Matic all-wheel drive system, which now distributes traction between the axles in relation to 40:60 in favor of the rear (50:50 – at the predecessor).
The engine allows the car with a mass of 2485 kg to accelerate from place to 100 km / h in 4.5 seconds, which is 0.9 seconds faster than the previous G 63. The maximum speed is forcibly limited to 220 kilometers per hour. In this case, customers will be offered an optional set with upgraded wheels, tires and an electronic limiter moved to 240 km / h.
For comparison, the nearest competitor of the novelty in the person of the Range Rover Sport SVR with a five-liter 550-horsepower motor with a power-driven supercharger can accelerate from one place to a hundred in 4.7 seconds, and its maximum is 260 km per hour.
The new Mercedes-AMG G 63 is equipped with an adaptive suspension, sports exhaust system with options for sound settings, 22-inch alloy wheels and reinforced brake mechanisms with red calipers.
The timing of the start of sales and the cost of new items has not yet been called.
