The new Jeep Wrangler can fall apart on the go: badly welded frame!

\

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will recall about 18,000 Jeep Wrangler SUVs due to a welding defect on the frame, which could lead to a breakage of the front axle and an accident. Previously, this model has already responded due to various problems five times.

Wrangler is the best-selling model of the Jeep brand in the United States: from January to September of this year, dealers sold 190,951 copies, 27.2% more than in the same period of 2017. The surge in American consumer interest in the iconic SUV is caused by a change of generations that happened last year. To the delight of fans, Wrangler retained the frame structure and continuous bridges, but became more comfortable, more comfortable and safer.

However, the quality of workmanship has obvious problems: according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in less than a year, the Wrangler JL series has already been withdrawn five times: due to electrical failures, poor quality welding of the central steering shaft support, error -control, automatic transmission glitch and frame corrosion. And now quite a blatant case: the car can fall off the front axle! One of the owners of the defective SUV posted on the network video, clearly showing what the problem is.

In the video you can see that the support of jet thrust, centering the front axle, broke away from the frame along the weld, and the bridge now, as they say, is walking. Riding with such a defect, to put it mildly, is dangerous: the suspension arms can touch each other, and the car will become uncontrollable, and in the worst case, the bridge can fall off altogether. Fortunately, at the moment, there was not a single emergency in connection with the identified welding defect, but Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, just in case, gave American dealers a command to stop sales of the new generation Wrangler SUVs until all the cars at risk are identified and repaired.

According to Bloomberg, the review may be about 18 thousand cars
