In the network, a new crossover photo of the new generation has flowed, which shows us that there will be no major changes in the design of the model.
In addition to the usual M-package, the BMW X5 G05 will have a new all-terrain vehicle, which will include enhanced underbody protection, a rear differential lock and a cross country mode selection system. The public premiere of the crossover will be held at the Paris Motor Show, the official online debut, probably earlier – in the summer, but the model snaps into the Network now.
The fourth X5 is similar to the design of the front with the younger X3, but you can learn the novelty on a single-section radiator grille, whereas previously it consisted of two “nostrils”. The feed due to narrowed lanterns, became similar to the X4 of the latest generation. The car now has a length of 4 922 mm (+36 mm), a width of 2 004 mm (+66 mm) and a height of 1 781 mm (+19 mm). The wheelbase has grown by 44 mm and is now 2,975 mm. In terms of size, the new X5 gets a little less Volvo XC90.
The rear door of the BMW X5 G05 is two-folded, by the way, an optional non-contact opening system is optionally available. The trunk slightly decreased in size – from 650 – 1870 liters to 645 – 1,860 liters. The car in addition to the front and rear parking sensors can now be equipped with round-robin cameras.
The interior design is redesigned. Call it innovative can not, because it is made in the style of all the latest novelties of the Bavarian brand, but from its predecessor, it is significantly different. The “keyboard” of the climate control unit is now located under the central deflectors, and information “screens” between them, and below is another strip with the buttons for controlling the music.
The tunnel between the front seats has become wider, the gearbox is new and next to it, along with the iDrive controller and the shift mode buttons, there is now a control unit for air suspension and off-road modes. Approximately there is now the engine start button.
It is interesting to look at the design of the digital device with a diagonal of 12.3 inches: the central part displays navigation data, and to replace the traditional round devices came scales around the edges of the screen. By the way, the display (also 12.3 inches) of the new infotainment system iDrive 7.0 is now integrated with the “dashboard”. In addition, the X5 G05 has a new door handle design, while the exclusive, and in the arsenal is the audio system Bowers & Wilkins Diamond 3D with 20 loudspeakers of 1,500 watts and autopilot of the second level.
The new BMW X5 is based on the CLAR platform with a two-link front and multi-link rear suspension. In addition to the air suspension, the G05 will have: variable-ratio steering, electronically controlled dampers, fully-controlled chassis and active anti-roll bars.
BMW X5 fourth generation will enter the market with four engines. The base version will be the xDrive30d with a two-liter turbodiesel with a capacity of 265 hp. Version xDrive40i will be equipped with a three-liter turbo six with a capacity of 340 hp. (450 Nm) and a turbo eight with capacity of 4.4 liters with a capacity of 462 hp (650 Nm). Under the hood of the BMW X5 M50d there will be a quadrurbo diesel with a payback of 400 hp. and 760 Nm. In the future, versions with 252-strong petrol and 231-strong diesel two-liter motors are expected to appear. There will probably be a “charged” X5 M with a 4.4-liter V8 engine, boosted to, roughly, 625 hp. and 750 Nm. All engines will be combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
