It seems that everything is ready for the presentation of the most powerful Aston Martin sedan in the history of the company’s existence. At least, such a conclusion can be reached by looking at the spy video recording that appeared the day before.
Literally last year, during the international motor show in Geneva, Aston Martin announced the creation of a new sub-brand AMR, under which the most “hot” models of the brand will be produced. A year has passed with a little, and apparently, the company is ready to present a serial version of the four-door sedan Rapide AMR, then presented as a concept car. The British decided to bring the novelty to the Nürburgring almost without camouflage, and European automakers often practice the appearance of their “hot” pre-production models on this legendary race track before the official debut.
The pre-production Aston Martin Rapide AMR almost completely repeats the design of the same-name concept car. But the video shows that the novelty has an updated grille with vertical slats. Other differences between the pre-series version and the concept car are not visible.
While no technical specifications are reliably known to us, but under the hood of the concept car was located an atmospheric V12 engine with a volume of six liters and a payback in the region of 600 horsepower. There is no information on the gearbox yet, but the Rapide S model, which is produced by the British in 2013, is equipped with an eight-speed automatic ZF 8HP70, which is installed on cars BMW 7 Series F01, BMW X5 E70, Jaguar F-Type, Dodge Durango with V8 engine , and even Rolls Royce Phantom. This transmission can withstand 700 Nm of torque, so it may well be suitable for the Rapide AMR, because on the Rapide S it copes with a torque of 630 Nm and a capacity of 552 horsepower. However, in the arsenal of ZF there is a newer gearbox 8HP75, and it already works under the hoods of the “fresh” Aston Martin DB11 and V8 Vantage. It is possible that the choice will be stopped on it.
It is expected that the novelty can develop a maximum speed of 338 kilometers per hour, acceleration to 100 will take the car about four seconds.
It is expected that the circulation of the Rapide AMR will be limited, so it is unlikely to talk about any serious competition with other models of other brands.
Earlier we reported that Aston Martin Vantage can get a new engine Mercedes-Benz.
