Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus, owned by American businessman and director James Glickenhaus and engaged in the development of supercars, invented an SUV. The model was made in order to establish a height record, which the car can climb.
As part of the project, the company came up with two versions of the model: the two- and four-door. First is called Steve (in honor of Steve McQueen), and the second is Expedtion.
Off-road cars with a central location of the driver’s seat will be equipped with V8 engines of American manufacture, as well as automatic transmissions. Both Steve and Expedition will receive the system of a plug-in all-wheel drive. The course of suspension of SUVs will be 508 millimeters, and the ground clearance is 394 millimeters.
In the Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus expect to establish a mass production of SUVs, the cost of which will be approximately $ 100,000. The company is ready to begin accepting orders, and commercial vehicles will appear in 2019-2020.
When an attempt is made to establish a record, it is not specified yet. Now the best achievement is 6688 meters. In 2007, he installed a modified version of SUV Suzuki Samurai 1986 release. The race took place on the highest volcano on the planet – Chilean Ojos del Salado.
The company added that they expect to raise cars to a height of almost 7000 meters.
