Hyundai is preparing to market a new crossover under its subsidiary premium brand Genesis. The future model will be built on the basis of the concept GV80, presented in 2017. The presentation may take place in 2019.
Already in 2019, a brand new crossover from the premium brand Genesis could enter the market. Hyundai subsidiary has already passed to the active testing of the model on public roads, and already in the serial body. Earlier we also published spy photos of the test sample, but then the model was tested in the body of the previous generation Hyundai Santa Fe.
Now we can observe photos of the pre-production version, carefully hidden under camouflage. In addition to the film to hide the details used lining, completely hiding the appearance of the car.
Despite all attempts by the manufacturer, we can still notice some details. Thus, the dimensions of the car roughly coincide with the Genesis SV80 concept shown earlier, which became the prototype for the production version. It is also noticeable that a similar, or very similar grille will remain in the series, but the optics will become somewhat large, although it will retain its two-story building.
The engine line remains secret, but it is logical to assume that it will not differ from the line on the Genesis sedans. Thus, under the hood of the future crossover, it will be possible to find four and six cylinder turbo engines, and atmospheric V6 and V8 units. In addition, local media previously talked about the possibility of the emergence of a new diesel unit, but the details are not yet known.
Another logical assumption will be the output of the hybrid version, and, most likely, the “plug-in” system with an approximate power reserve of up to 50 km exclusively on electric traction. Of course, the all-wheel drive system will also be present.
This will be the first premium brand crossover. The name has not yet been said, but it can save the name of the concept, which is embedded in the logic of the name of sedans (Genesis G70, G80 and G90). And we know that in 2020 another crossover is being prepared, which will occupy a step below the “GV80”.
