Project P presentation timed to mark the 60th anniversary of the brand
The first model of the revived brand De Tomaso will be shown at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 4 of this year. The presentation of the car, which still appears under the internal designation Project P, is timed to the 60th anniversary of the Italian manufacturer of sports cars.
In 2014, the rights to the De Tomaso brand were bought out by the Chinese holding Consolidated Ideal TeamVenture – it also owns Apollo Automobil, formerly known as Gumpert. The work on Project P became known in 2019, when two camouflaged cars – Apollo Intensa Emozione and, presumably, a new version of the legendary De Tomaso Pantera – appeared on the streets of Geneva, where another international auto show was held.
It is still unknown whether the new car will be a restaurant or a modernized version of an Italian sports car, but in the photographs its similarity with the original is obvious. True, according to Western journalists, under the film on the teasers, a real Pantera of the 1970s style is hidden. It is known that the development of the car involved in the people responsible for the hypercar Intensa Emozione.
Coupe with very aggressive aerodynamics and atmospheric engine debuted in 2017. The car is almost entirely made of carbon fiber, and it is driven by a 6.3-liter V12 (780 hp and 760 Nm of torque). According to rumors, this is a modified Autotecnica Motori unit Ferrari, which is installed on the F12tdf, although the management of the brand claims that the motor was created from scratch according to their specifications.
