The first autonomous BMW will be a crossoverMay 29, 2018
BMW partially disclosed information about the electric drone iNEXT, which is scheduled to be launched in 2021. According to one of the top managers of the brand, it will be a crossover. In the model range, it will be located on the step above the model iX3, reports Automotive News.
According to preliminary information, BMW iNEXT will unite three key technologies, which are currently being actively worked on: the car will be permanently connected to the Network, will have an advanced autonomous control system and a new electric power unit.
iNEXT will become the second model in the line of electrified vehicles of the fifth generation. The first is the electric modification of the X3 crossover. In total, within the framework of the strategic development plan until 2025, the German manufacturer will release 25 new models – including twelve electric vehicles.
On top electric models, BMW intends to install up to three 272-horsepower electric motors (one on the front axle, two on the rear axle). The total output of the electrical installation will then exceed 800 horsepower. From zero to 100 kilometers per hour, these machines can accelerate in less than three seconds.
