The buyer of the most expensive Bugatti will receive the car only after 2.5 yearsMarch 7, 2019
The buyer of the unique Bugatti La Voiture Noire will be able to get the car only after 2.5 years. So much time the company will need to refine the technical part and homologation of the hypercar for public roads. An unknown collector, including taxes, paid for 16.7 million euros for a single coupe.
Shown in Geneva, the Bugatti La Voiture Noire is a tribute to another legendary French brand, the Type 57 SC Atlantic. In the exterior of the hypercar, there are many references to the pre-war model: the central fin extending through the whole body, smooth lines of carbon-fiber panels, stylized engine cover under the rear windows of the original. And a color similar to the color of a lost copy of Type 57 SC Atlantic and reflecting the name of the car: La Voiture Noire is translated from French as “black car”.
But technically, Bugatti La Voiture Noire is still the same Chiron. The chassis and powerplant have not changed. Here is installed an 8.0-liter W16 with four turbines, delivering 1500 horsepower and 1600 Nm of torque and combined with a seven-step “robot”. The dynamic characteristics of the “black car” are not communicated: at the same time, Chiron spends 2.4 seconds to accelerate to the “hundred”, and its maximum speed is 420 kilometers per hour.
La Voiture Noire will be released in a single copy. The buyer is a long-time customer of the brand and collector of Bugatti. The price of a hypercar including taxes was 16.7 million euros. For comparison: Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta sold for 15 million euros, and piece Rolls-Royce Sweptail – for 11.2 million euros.
