The company began experimental pre-production Polestar 1 prototype at the factory in Gothenburg
The Polestar brand, part of Volvo Cars, has launched a pre-production sports coupe with an index of 1. A total of 34 cars will be assembled at the experimental production in Gothenburg, which will be used for crash tests, temperature and weather tests, and estimates of the driving characteristics of the model.
Production in Gothenburg, where work is mostly done manually, will be the first phase of testing the availability of equipment and technologies for the release of commercial versions of the Polestar 1 coupe. Thus, for the carbon fiber body, the company had to create new equipment and process technology that would later be transferred to a factory in Chengdu, China. used for the production of production cars.
According to the executive director of Polestar, Thomas Ingenlat, the release of driving prototypes is the next step towards mass production. Cars will help engineers to fine-tune the main components to make the product versions “perfect”.
The Polestar 1 coupe was introduced in the fall of 2017. At the heart of the two-door is the SPA platform with a double-lever front and a multi-lever rear, covered with a carbon fiber body. Its total efficiency is 600 horsepower and 1000 Nm of torque.
