Skoda has already started tests of Octavia next generationMay 29, 2018
True, the Czech manufacturer uses the current model as a mule.
Photo-spyts caught an interesting copy of the universal Skoda Octavia, in which they recognized the prototype of the next-generation model. Although, the car is not much different from the usual Octavia, except that it looks congested.
But, for savvy professional photographers who sent pictures to the Carscoops, it was easy to recognize in the car an early prototype of the Skoda Octavia next generation. The car has a number of key differences from the conventional model.
So, for example, the front part has been recycled from the prototype. Head optics is kept from the current Octavia, but a completely new radiator grille and false air intakes are placed below. Of course, it is unlikely that we see the final version of the design of the lower part.
There are other differences. If you look at the wheels, you can see that some sensors are attached to the center. And the fact that the car is so low “crouched” to the asphalt, may indicate the presence of heavy test equipment in the trunk.
Recall, Skoda produces Octavia since 1996 and this is the third generation of the model. In early 2017, the model survived the restyling, during which the front part was substantially revised and the head optics divided into two sections appeared. The rear of the car remained unchanged.
What composition of the power scale will be for Octavia’s new generation is still unknown, but probably the model will receive a plug-in hybrid version borrowed from Skoda Superb, as well as an assortment of gasoline and diesel engines.
Let’s notice, that affairs at Skoda Octavia in Europe go well. The sales volume of the model for the last three years only increased: in 2015 – 215 797 cars sold, in 2016 – 226 737 and in 2017 – 227 213 units.
