Skoda first RS-crossover tested in the Arctic CircleMarch 15, 2019
Charged Skoda Kodiaq RS crossover for 21 hours and seven minutes covered the distance from Finnish Rovaniemi to North Cape in Norway, having traveled a total of 1,417 kilometers. The route ran along a snow-covered road through the Arctic Circle. The movement was complicated by weather conditions: temperatures of -20 degrees Celsius and wind blowing at a speed of 70 kilometers per hour.
The Skoda Italian office team left Rovaniemi one hour before midnight and by four in the morning reached the border with Norway. They reached Cape North Cape at nine o’clock – with the exception of gas stations it was the only stop on the whole route. At 15:30 Kodiaq RS crossed the Finnish border, and already at 18:17 entered the Rovaniemi. The average speed was 67 kilometers per hour.
Skoda Kodiaq RS is equipped with a 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel engine with 240 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. The box is a seven-step DSG “robot”. From zero to 100 kmh the crossover accelerates in seven seconds exactly. The maximum speed of the Kodiaq RS is 220 kilometers per hour.
Kodiaq RS is equipped with all-wheel drive with a rear axle coupling and imitation of thrust vector control (up to 85 percent of the moment can be transmitted to one of the wheels), an adaptive suspension with six different work programs and progressive steering.
