Retired Volkswagen Beetle: the last copy came off the assembly lineJuly 10, 2019
It was the oldest model on the conveyor, produced over the course of 80 years. Today, production is completely stopped, and the last copy will be permanently captured as a museum piece.
For the first time Volkswagen Beetle appeared in the late 30s of the last century. Since that time, he became the most popular car and was sold in quantities of more than 21.5 million units. The first version of the model was created by Ferdinand Porsche on behalf of Adolf Hitler. The main requirements were: capacity for up to five people and speed up to 100 km / h.
Initially, the model was built with the rear engine. Later (in 1998) a new version was introduced based on the Volkswagen Golf platform with a front-mounted engine. Unfortunately, recently the model was not in great demand, which was the reason for stopping production. Before leaving, two farewell versions were released – Final Edition SE and Final Edition SEL costing from 23 thousand dollars.
