The festival of speed in Goodwood every year is becoming more popular. Some manufacturers purposefully wait for this event to display their own novelties. Polestar 1 is already preparing for the debut.
Plug-in hybrids that appeared not long ago, and at the beginning of their development they were not very popular. But now the situation is changing, and already some models with a similar system look very tempting. One example is the Polestar 1, a powerful coupe that has appeared in life as the Volvo S90 Coupe, before moving into the line of the premium brand Polestar. The car was introduced in mid-October 2017, and we will finally see it in a series performance next month at the speed festival in Goodwood in 2018.
It is worth noting that the car will be produced in China. The peculiarity of the model will be its hybrid installation, which will be able to develop up to 600 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque. In addition, this model has the largest power reserve on electricity among all other hybrids – about 150 km.
Unfortunately the car promises to become truly premium and rare. The preliminary annual circulation will be about 500 copies annually. This is due to the special design of the car and the complexity of its assembly.
At the time of the commencement of the sale, the car will be provided to customers solely by the company’s subscription system for the operation of the vehicle. This program provides a monthly subscription fee, and the owner does not have to worry about the maintenance of the vehicle. But later will be opened and classic sales with a value of 155 000 dollars in the US and 155 000 euros in Europe.
After the launch of the implementation of the premium coupe, the company expects to launch the second model – Polestar 2. This model will become a full-fledged electric car and will be positioned as an alternative for the Tesla Model 3 with a cost of about 35 000 dollars.
Recall that the Festival of Speed in Goodwood will be held from 12 to 15 July.
Earlier it was reported that the Polestar 1 coupe had been fully tested beyond the polar circle with a constant temperature of no higher than -25 degrees. And the company decided to publish the video from passable tests.
