German tuning studio Posaidon has presented a package of increasing engine power for the Mercedes-AMG S63 cabriolet. As a result of the improvements, the output of the basic 5.5-liter Biturbo, which was installed on the pre-style model, rose to 1,020 horsepower – almost like the Super Hybrid Project One.
To achieve power increase, the tuners increased the engine displacement from 5.5 to 6.3 liters, installed steel cylinder sleeves, renewed the main bearings, strengthened the valve springs and changed the compression ratio. In addition, the turbochargers, the cooling system, the intake and the engine control unit were audited.
After that, the output of the V8 engine was 1020 horsepower and 1400 Nm of torque – the usual Mercedes-AMG S63 unit produces 585 forces and 900 Nm of torque. To cope with the increased torque, it was necessary to strengthen the differential and a seven-speed automatic transmission.
From a place to a hundred kilometers per hour Mercedes-AMG S63 from Posaidon is able to accelerate in 2.9 seconds – a second faster than the base car. The maximum speed of a cabriolet is limited by electronics and makes 350 kilometers per hour.
In the spring Posaidon presented a modified version of the “charged” hatchback Mercedes-AMG A45. The car increased the engine’s output from 381 to 558 horsepower and modified the robotic transmission.
