On Tuesday, March 13, the preliminary applications for the hybrid coupe Polestar 1 started.
Initially, the brand announced only six markets, where a stylish coupe will be available for the order: the USA, Germany, China, Sweden, Norway and the Netherlands. Now the list includes twelve countries: Denmark, Finland, Great Britain, Spain, France, Portugal, Poland, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium and Canada.
Europeans must make a deposit of 2,500 euros, Americans 2,500 dollars, and the Chinese 20,000 yuan. However, this fee does not guarantee that the client will receive the car – he will only “stake out” his place in the queue, because the planned circulation of the coupe is only 500 copies per year. The full cost of the model has not been disclosed.
According to the company, since the world premiere of the coupe held last fall, about 7,000 people showed interest in the novelty. So it is possible that the plan will be revised upwards. The production of cars will start in mid-2019, their production will be adjusted at a new site, which is being built at the Volvo plant in China in Chengdu, where today the crossovers of the HS60 and S60L and S90L sedans are assembled.
Recall Polestar – a former court tuning studio Volvo, in 2017, he was allocated to an independent international company. Coupe Polestar 1 – the brand’s new car, the model is built on the modernized Volvo SPA platform. The coupe will be equipped with a hybrid unit consisting of a petrol four-cylinder turbo engine 2.0, which drives the front wheels, and two electric motors that rotate the rear axle. The total output is 600 hp, only on the electric power Polestar 1 will travel about 150 km.
All other models of the new brand will be electric cars. According to unofficial data, in 2019 the year will debut a hatchback Polestar 2, which will compete with Tesla Model 3. And later on the market will crossover Polestar 3.
By the way, like the new Volvo, Polestar cars will be available by subscription, which can be issued for 2-3 years (with a monthly subscription fee, it includes the costs of insurance and maintenance). After the expiry of the period, the car will return to the manufacturer, and after appropriate preparation, Polestar will be put up for sale as a second-hand car.
