Peugeot 1008: the first image of a possible subcompact crossover

Crossovers have already flooded the modern car market. Each brand is trying to release its own line, or even a few. This time, independent designers presented their own vision of the subcompact crossover Peugeot 1008.

SUVs and crossovers continue to gain popularity, and there is no sign that this is the end. And now there is a tendency that manufacturers have to give up traditional sedans, station wagons and hatchbacks. Moreover, some manufacturers are trying to invent new segments where they can sell new models.

This time the designers decided to experiment with the model line of Peugeot. The company already has in its own lineup a family SUV 5008 with seven seats, a younger crossover of 3008 and an entry level crossover 2008. However, the company lacks in the model line of a compact city crossover.

The proposed render demonstrates a possible crossover, which will take a step below the current 2008, and is supposedly named 1008. At the moment there is no information about the beginning of work on such a model. However, last year an unknown prototype of a small crossover fell into the hands of photographers.

And in 2010, Peugeot introduced the concept of HR1 (pictured above), which can serve as the basis for the future of the entry-level crossover. The serial version will most likely be built on the PSA EMP1 platform, developed in collaboration with engineers from Peugeot, Citroen and Dongfeng.

Experts noted that creating a compact crossover is a profitable step for the company, which will bring enough profit. At the same time, the cost of developing a new model will not be high. Owning the companies Opel and Vauxhall concern PSA has access to the market of Great Britain and Germany. If the Peugeot 1008 enters the series, then the concern can easily change the emblems and names to other subsidiaries and sell the same model home markets.
