Another SUV of the German brand will enter the market before the end of this year.
In March 2018, Volkswagen introduced a new generation Touareg crossover in Beijing. Together with this model, the Germans demonstrated several more prototypes. Among the March prime ministers there was also a SUV called Advanced Mid-Size SUV. In April, the Network posted a photo from the tests of the commercial embodiment of this concept. The model in those pictures on the stern was adorned with the Tayron nameplate. Now the publication Bitauto has published footage with cross, made at the Chinese factory of JV FAW and Volkswagen. Apparently, Tyrone has already risen on the conveyor.
Meanwhile, VW has not yet announced the start of production of new items. Moreover, the German concern has not yet announced the commercial version of Advanced Mid-Size SUV. Most likely, official images of the crossover will be distributed in the near future, and in the Middle Kingdom, probably, the production of pre-series samples began.
Judging by the photo, Volkswagen Tayron retained the prototype design, the only significant difference is the other front bumper. This can be explained by the fact that in Beijing they showed a cross in the exported version of R-Line. For sure, the model with a body kit, like the Advanced Mid-Size SUV, will also be on sale.
According to preliminary data, Tyrone will be offered only in a five-seater performance. It is expected that the new SUV engine line will include a petrol turbo four 2.0 TSI EA888 with a power of 220 hp. (350 Nm). The same engine is also in the scale of the Chinese version of Volkswagen Teramont. The last SUV has an all-wheel drive option, whether there will be a version of 4 × 4 from Tayron – is still unknown. By the way, Teramont for the Chinese market produces a joint venture Volkswagen and SAIC.
In the Chinese market, VW Tayron is expected to come out by the end of this year. While there is no information about the plans of the brand to sell a novelty outside the Celestial Empire.
Volkswagen previously declassified another serial cross, whose forerunner, the Powerful Family SUV concept, was also presented in Beijing this spring. In China, the SUV will appear under the name Tharu, for the local market it will be assembled at the plant of JV VW and SAIC, production will start this year. Later Tharu will become a global model: in 2020 Volkswagen plans to launch a new crossover in Mexico (from there it will be supplied to the USA), Argentina and Russia (at the Kaluga plant of the concern). It is possible that for other countries the name of the model will change.
