Since the distant 1968, Mitsubishi has been producing a compact Delica minivan. The most recent version is D: 5. For his, perhaps, the most popular family car, the brand’s engineers created a super-off-road version, which was shown at the Tokyo auto showroom (Japan).
It is noteworthy that the car shown so far carries the status of the concept.
Compared with the regular version of Mitsubishi D:5, which is designed for off-road, the new expeditionary performance is not so different. The novelty has received off-road tires, a reinforced roof rack, additional LED lighting, which is also located on the roof, decorative lining on the bumpers, red mud flaps, as well as metal steps. Inside the car appeared branded floor mats, which received red accents, as well as leather trim with contrasting stitching.
Under the hood is a 2.3-liter turbo diesel power unit 4N14, the maximum power of which is equal to 173 hp (380 Nm of torque). An 8-speed automatic transmission is offered as a gearbox, which is connected to the all-wheel drive system All Wheel Control.
So far, there is no clear understanding of whether the presented concept will be mass produced or not. It is known that the usual performance of the Japanese minivan Mitsubishi Delica D:5 is already available for purchase at a minimum price of 3,850,000 yen. The car is still available for purchase in the Japanese car market.
