The van Mercedes-Benz Sprinter received a new communication service and a 9-speed automatic transmission. Next year, the model will have a version with an electric power unit
The Mercedes-Benz company introduced the model of the third generation Mercedes Sprinter. The world premiere of the novelty took place at a special event in the German Duisburg.
Third generation Sprinter received a new communication service PRO Connect, which “greatly simplified” the coordination and interaction between fleet managers and drivers. So, the operator will be able to track in real time various information – from the exact location of the car to the level of the reserve hot in the fuel tank.
In total, customers will be offered six variants of the body of various lengths and carrying capacity, also several cabs and their modifications. The automaker noted that in total it will be possible to configure more than 1700 different versions of the car.
As before, the new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter will be offered in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions. However, now the model also has a base version with a front-wheel drive. These cars will be equipped with two new gearboxes: a six-speed manual or a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The motor line of the new Mercedes Sprinter in Europe included 2.1-liter diesel engines with a capacity of 115, 145 and 165 or 180 horsepower. Top variants will be offered with a three-liter six-cylinder unit that produces 193 power and 440 Nm of torque.
Sales of the new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter will start this summer. Presumably, next year the list of modifications of the family will be supplemented with a version with a fully electric power plant.
