At the Geneva Motor Show, which will open as early as next week, Mercedes-Benz is going to present a fully electric crossover EQC. On the eve of the official presentation of the car, the company conducted the final tests of its pre-series prototype.
The tests took place in Lapland, where the temperature is -35 degrees Celsius not uncommon. At Mercedes-Benz in this region there is a specialized base in Aryehlug, on which the car overcame steep ascents and descents, its stabilization systems were tested on coatings with different coefficient of adhesion.
In total, the crossover passed about 500 tests, and the Germans paid special attention to the operation of its batteries in conditions of launch in cold weather. Special tests of the climate control of the car were also conducted, the work of charging cables, energy recovery systems was tested and their calibration was carried out.
Some time with the crossover conducted and the chief technical engineer Mercedes-Benz EQC Michael Kels. According to him, the electric crossover turned out to be very dynamic and powerful, although on the other hand its behavior can be compared with a silent glider, but if it is required, it can leave an unconcealed smile on the driver’s face.
Also, Michael Kels stated that all the basic tests for EQC were left behind, and now the company will focus on its fine tuning.
Mercedes-Benz EQC is built on the Modular Electric Architecture (MEA) platform, created by Daimler for the future range of electric vehicles, and EQC will be the first model of the sub-brand EQ. The platform is characterized by the fact that the batteries are located in the floor, and the motors are mounted on one or both axes. It is expected that the capacity of EQC batteries will last for 500 kilometers along the NEDC cycle.
The main competitor of EQC is called Jaguar I-Pace, which was presented yesterday.
