Mercedes-Benz introduced the new generation CLA sedanJanuary 9, 2019
Mercedes-Benz unveiled a new generation CLA sedan at the CES Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Car sales in Russia will start in the second quarter of this year. Prices for new items will be announced later.
The novelty was built on the MFA architecture, created specifically for cars of the compact class. Through the use of a new chassis CLA added in size, and its interior has become more spacious. So the new sedan was 48 mm longer and 53 mm wider. The luggage compartment is 460 liters (+10 liters). The drag coefficient of the second-generation Mercedes-Benz CLA is 0.23.
The next generation CLA has received boomerang LED daytime running lights. Now the sedan has a sloping roofline, as well as sports bumpers. The company itself has already said that the new product will be “the most emotional car in its class.”
The driver is accessible by the MBUX information and entertainment complex, which was first shown on the fourth-generation A-Class family. Artificial intelligence can self-educate itself and, over time, will be able to understand even complex commands. A seven-inch digital dashboard is combined with a display of an infotainment complex of the same size.
Also equipped with a car function Interior Assistant. For example, with the help of special sensors, electronics can recognize the movement of the driver’s hands and turn on additional lighting. It is assumed that the system will work only when the car is not in motion – so as not to distract the driver.
At the CES Consumer Electronics Show, the public was shown the version of the sedan CLA 250. This modification is equipped with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine with four cylinders. Power of the unit makes 225 hp and 350 Nm of torque. This engine is combined with a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches. The car received a multi-link rear suspension and anti-roll bar.
The novelty received a semi-autonomous control system, which it borrowed from the S-Class. The sedan is equipped with an emergency braking system, a hollow-hold system, adaptive cruise control, and other advanced safety systems.
