The company Land Rover has prepared a special version of the machine for Selfridges department store.
The division of classic cars Land Rover Classic announced the creation of a unique instance of the Defender SUV. It will be built in a single copy, equipped with an eight-cylinder engine and assembled in Selfridges department store in London in front of customers.
At the heart of the car is pickup Defender 110 sample 2016. In the Land Rover, they installed a soft roof on the car, painted the body in a dark green color, and the hood – in yellow (in accordance with the stylistics of the Selfridges department store). At the moment, the chassis with the installed power plant is already ready, which was lifted and “rolled in” through the first floor window into the store itself using a crane.
The SUV will be installed in the new men’s section of Selfridges department store, which will open on October 29th. Over the next few days, Land Rover Classic will fully assemble the car, after which it will be placed in a protective box until the floor has been repaired.
Exclusive Defender will receive the same powerplant as the special version of the model called Defender Works V8, built for the 70th anniversary of the SUV. It was completed with a 405-horsepower eight-cylinder engine of five liters, an eight-speed automatic transmission, enhanced brakes, a retuned suspension and 18-inch wheels.
From zero to 96 kilometers per hour, such a car accelerates in 5.6 seconds. Maximum speed – 170 kilometers per hour.
A total of 150 copies were collected Defender with a V8 engine.
