Along with the new performance of the already familiar compact crossover, the South Korean company will show an updated version of the model, which will be positioned as a car of the 2019 model year. The main differences in the appearance of the new KIA Sportage have become the revised design of the front and rear bumper, another false radiator grille, and slightly modified optics. The interior boasts a new steering wheel, and a new version of the infotainment system with a touch screen of 7 and 8 inches.

It is known that the car will be offered with a 1.6-liter diesel engine with a capacity of 113 and 134 hp. As a transmission, either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed robotized transmission with a 2nd clutch is offered. The car will be equipped with front or all-wheel drive.

The similar scheme of the power unit has received the name soft hybrid. The electric motor acts as an assistant to the ICE – helps it during acceleration, restarts the motor in Start / Stop cycles, and in the case when the car brakes, it provides all the electronics with electricity.
