Autobild journalists revealed details about the third-generation Kia Ceed model. The model will not only lose its apostrophe in the title, but will also move to a new lightweight platform. The public debut of the novelty will take place at the Geneva Motor Show this spring.
Kia Ceed will be the first model of the brand to be built on the more robust and lightweight K2 platform. It is 25 kilograms lighter than the previously used J4 trolley. The architecture of the suspension thus remains unchanged: McPherson front and multi-lever rear.
The dimensions of the new generation hatchback will not be much different from the current cars. The length of Ceed is 4310 millimeters, width – 1800 (+20 millimeters), height – 1447 millimeters (-23). The wheelbase remains unchanged – 2650 millimeters.
The front overhang will be shorter by 20 millimeters, and the rear overhang will be exactly the same as long. The luggage compartment volume will increase by 15 liters, up to 395. To compensate for the space above the head, the new Ceed has changed the fixing points – they are lower.
The range of Ceed engines will consist of a three-cylinder unit with a capacity of one liter (120 forces), a 1.4-liter gasoline turbo engine (about 140 horsepower) and a 1.6-liter diesel, the output of which will be 115 or 136 horsepower. The engines will be paired with a mechanical transmission. Machines with turbomotor and diesel units can be equipped with a seven-stage “robot” with two clutches.
The list of equipment for the new generation Kia Ceed will include a multimedia system with a display diagonal of five, seven or eight inches, front seats with ventilation, heated windshield and wireless charging.
Kia Ceed will be available in four versions: five-door hatchback, station wagon, liftback and all-terrain vehicle.
Previously, the Korean website Motorgraph fully revealed the design of the new Ceed. The publication has published photos of a five-door hatchback with fully LED head optics.
