Jaguar can create competitor for Porsche Panamera

The segment of full-size four-door coupe begins to expand. After the appearance of the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, Jaguar thought about his representative.

The automaker Jaguar has plans to release a four-door coupe. Perhaps it will be built on the basis of the model Jaguar F-Type. This is reported by the publication CarAdvice referring to the chief designer company Jan Callum.

A couple of years ago, the division of Mercedes-AMG has already announced the construction of a four-door coupe based on the two-seater AMG GT. Fans expected a stretched platform from a sports car. And when the novelty came out, it turned out that it was built on the architecture of Mercedes-Benz E-Class and CLS. And from the four-door coupe CLS it is distinguished by the concept of the body elevatorback and the lack of low-power versions.

Now the chief designer Jaguar declares that they want to build a four-door sedan. By analogy with the AMG GT, Callum was asked about the development of a two-seater F-Type. Will the British stretch its platform, it is not clear yet. The chief designer did not give an affirmative answer.

On the eve of Callum also announced that the next generation Jaguar XJ will become more “sporty”. Before that, enthusiasts had already submitted several of its rendered images on the network. On them the future XJ is represented in the body of a four-door coupe with a silhouette similar to the pioneer of the segment – CLS.

In the case of such a Jaguar XJ, in size, it would have become a direct competitor for the Porsche Panamera and the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe. However, it is expected that XJ will receive a fully electric power unit. Then he will compete with the Tesla Model S.

Earlier we wrote about the first rendered image of the next-generation Jaguar XJ.
