Introduced 1000-hp hybrid Ferrari SF90 StradaleMay 30, 2019
New Ferrari SF90 Stradale – the most powerful road model in the history of the brand
Ferrari introduced the most powerful road car and the first plug-in hybrid in the history of the brand – the SF90 Stradale. The alphanumeric designation in the hypercar name refers to the 90th anniversary of the Scuderia Ferrari racing team. The word Stradale says that berlinetta is intended for public roads.
Ferrari SF90 Stradale – the new flagship of the Italian automaker. This is indicated not only by technical characteristics, but also by design. Innovative style for the company has evolved from the F8 Tributo. It is based on the principle of “broadcasting the mission of a car as an extreme sports car.” The appearance of the car is determined by short overhangs, exhaust pipes in the upper part of the bumper and for the first time for Ferrari – matrix LED headlights.
The SF90 Stradale chassis has undergone significant refinement: its design used hollow elements, a fully carbon partition of the engine compartment, as well as two new aluminum alloys. For body parts, an alloy of 7000 series is used, for the floor – sound absorbing “quiet” aluminum. The rigidity of the chassis for bending in the SF90 Stradale increased by 20 percent, in torsion – immediately by 40 percent.
Biturbomotor V8 with a 90-degree block collapse became part of the hypercar powerplant. The unit is installed including on the F8 Tributo, but for the SF90 Stradale it was upgraded. The working volume increased from 3.9 to 4.0 liters, and the power – from 720 hp (770 Nm of the moment) to 780 hp (800 Nm of the moment). In addition, the hybrid has three electric motors with a total power of 220 power: one is installed between the engine and the gearbox, the other two are on the front axle. Everyone can individually control the feed torque, thereby implementing a system for changing the thrust vector
The gearbox is also new. This is an eight-step “robot” with two clutches. It is 10 kilograms lighter than its predecessor and has no reverse gear. The reverse is implemented only in eDrive mode at the expense of front electric motors. The switching speed of the robotized gearbox is 200 milliseconds instead of the previous 300.
From the spot to the “hundred”, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale accelerates in 2.5 seconds, up to 200 – in 6.7 seconds. The maximum speed of the hypercar is 340 kilometers per hour. Thanks to a 7.9 kilowatt-hour battery, the SF90 Stradale can travel 25 kilometers.
The power plant has four modes of operation: in addition to electric eDrive, Hybrid, Performance and extreme Qualify are provided. They differ in the interaction algorithm of the internal combustion engine and the hybrid superstructure. In addition, the SF90 Stradalé has an improved eSSC side-slip angle control system, which also works with electric motors, a “wired” braking system that automatically distributes braking forces between hydraulics and recuperation, and an electronic traction control system.
To improve aerodynamics, the SF90 Stradale uses a movable section of the rear fairing. With the help of two electric actuators, it lowers, actually changing the direction of the air flow. The logic of operation takes into account a number of parameters – from speed to transverse overloads. The front part of the chassis is raised by 15 millimeters – there are installed vortex flow generators. The clamping force on the front axle creates a space between the upper bumper section and the hood, as well as two diffusers. Blow out air from the arches to help wheels of special design.
The SF90 Stradale has a 16-inch driver-oriented display. There are separate touch panels for climate control and touch buttons with tactile feedback on the steering wheel. There is also a projection display, and the transmission selector is stylized under the lever box of cars of the past.
The launch of the SF90 Stradale is scheduled for 2020. The price has not yet been announced.
