In the center of Berlin will ban diesel cars

Many European countries are quite a strange struggle for clean air in large cities, prohibiting diesel cars. This time, the Berlin City Court imposed a ban on the entry of diesel cars into the center of Berlin, but not for everyone.

According to Deutsche Welle, the Berlin City Court issued a decision, under which until 1 June 2019 the passage for diesel cars on certain sections of the central streets should be prohibited. Fortunately for the locals, this will not affect all diesel cars, but both commercial and passenger cars were banned.

Thus, vehicles with diesel units, the level of environmental friendliness that does not fall under the modern standard Euro-6, will not be able to drive through the center of Berlin, for example, along the central streets of Leipziger-Strasse and Friedrichstrasse. In addition, the authorities will have to check the possibility of introducing a similar restriction on a number of sections of other streets with a total length of about 15 km.

A similar court decision was made in response to a request from local environmentalists. They believe that it is cars with non-environmentally friendly and relatively old engines that worsen living conditions in Germany. Experts also note that similar bans are already in force in a number of German cities: Hamburg, Stuttgart, Aachen and Frankfurt am Main. The bans were imposed by the Federal Court of Germany.

In addition to the German prohibitions today there are prohibitions in a number of other European countries. For example, in Norway and Spain. Sometimes there are proposals and completely ban the implementation of diesel cars. But extreme measures are not yet applied.

Apparently, all environmentalists hope for the development of electrification of modern cars, as well as the development of technologies for producing electricity from renewable sources. So, there are already preliminary plans to ban cars with internal combustion engines until 2040-2060.

While we see the active participation of countries in the development of electric road transport. This is reflected in the purchase subsidies, as well as the development of infrastructure for their operation. However, mass electrification can significantly affect the cost of electricity for domestic use.
