France follows an international tendency to install solar panels above parking areas.

The project budget in the French city of Corbie was 19.1 million euros, and its implementation – five months, reports VV-magazine.

For this solar power plant with a capacity of 16.3 MW, a preferential tariff of 0.102 EUR / kWh is valid. The overall design covers an area of 12.5 hectares and is the largest such project in France.

“Auto fleets with sunshades are not only becoming more and more popular, but also expanding rapidly,” – said Juliet Mutler, Project Manager at Neoen. – Often, these systems are used by logistics centers and parking operators, which attract customers to their “green” image, and in addition, have a significant return on energy production, thus obtaining a new source of income. “

The sunshade produces electricity at a price of about 80-90 euro / MWh, while for terrestrial SES this figure is only 50-60 Euro / MWh. In the case of a fleet, it is possible to save about 30 euros / MWh for electricity transmission to the network.

Another advantage of the sunshades is that they do not change the intended use of land parcels, which are particularly important in France, where regulators and the public are particularly sensitive to integrating solar installations into the environment. The company notes that in some rural areas, residents often oppose the construction of land-based SES, but nobody has complained about the placement of solar panels in car parks.
