Hybrid Mercedes-AMG GT73 will appear in 2020May 31, 2019
According to insiders, the new hybrid car of the German brand will be presented in 2020. The novelty will receive 800 “horses”. Price is estimated to be above $ 159,000
When Mercedes-AMG announced what is now being called the GT 4-Door Coupe, the conceptual version of this model, introduced in March 2017 at the Geneva Motor Show, contained a hybrid powertrain with a 4.0-liter V8 and an electric motor. The gasoline engine was installed at the front and worked with the electric motor at the rear to provide a huge total power of 805 horsepower.
Since then, the guys from the German brand have confirmed plans to introduce such a hybrid installation in the serial model, and now, it seems, we can say what kind of car it will be.
The GT 4-Door Coupe in the guise of the 63 S is already the most powerful production model of Mercedes with the exception of the Project One hypercar, but according to rumors, in 2020 something new will be shown. Known as the GT73, the hybrid will take everything to a whole new level, providing about 800 hp.
Foreign publications published spy shots of an interesting prototype, which is rumored to be the upcoming GT73. Moreover, the journalists did not hear the engine noise of this engine – apparently he was driving in electric mode.
It is believed that additional equipment compared to the current GT63 S will not add significant weight to the new GT73. As a result, the acceleration speed from 0 to 100 km / h will be reduced from 3.2 to 3.0 seconds. On electricity, the hybrid novelty will be able to drive 50 kilometers.
When it eventually appears on the market, expect that the GT73 will cost significantly more than the GT63 S, which costs $ 159,000.
