If you thought that Audi intends to actively develop only electric cars, showing a new crossover E-Tron, then you are mistaken. Soon it will be possible to see hybrid versions of Audi E-tron A3, E-tron A6 and E-tron Q7. And Q5 E-tron will appear in 2019.
Siegfried Pint, Audi’s powertrain development director, said the company is preparing a new version of its own hybrid plant, which will become the basis for new hybrid versions of crossovers. So, for an early launch are preparing: Audi E-tron A3, E-tron A6, E-tron Q7. But first of all the popular model of crossover Audi Q5 E-tron will be presented.
According to the company’s representatives, a new generation of hybrids will receive an increased power reserve, more power, as well as a more efficient energy recovery system. First of all, it is planned to increase the power reserve only on electric traction by 20-30%. This will allow the models to travel up to 68 km of the road (according to the most optimistic statements).
In total by 2025, Audi plans to produce at least ten hybrid models, and 12 fully electric cars. The new Audi E-Tron electric car is just preparing to enter the market, and has 400 km of power reserve for the WLTP cycle.
For the first time, the hybrid Q5 will appear in 2019 in the US market. In all likelihood, the electrical component of the hybrid will be integrated with the automatic transmission. The maximum power of the electric motor is about 110 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque.
For more power, an efficient intelligent all-wheel-drive system and fuel economy, the ICE will respond solely to the front wheels, and the electric moment will only be transmitted to the rear wheels. No major changes are expected for the rest of the car compared to other Q5, which means that it will retain electromechanical steering and dynamic suspension.
