Haas F1 – the third team in the qualificationMarch 16, 2019
Haas riders successfully conducted the first qualification of the season in Melbourne – Roman Grosjean showed the sixth time, and Kevin Magnussen – the seventh. The team is counting on a productive race …
Roman Grosjean (6th): “The sixth place at the start is a good result. Great day, after all, and Kevin highly qualified. The car was well managed, and in past years it was competitive on this track. Today we first left with the qualification settings – it was interesting to evaluate the behavior of the machine in such conditions.
The machine is fast, the results are quite in line with expectations. There may be certain surprises in the alignment of forces, but I am very pleased with how our day went. I think the race pace will be as good as qualifying. We will continue to attack and, I hope, earn a lot of points at the start of the season. “
Kevin Magnussen (7th): “I didn’t ideally qualify – I made a mistake in the first session, because of which I had to use an additional set of rubber – as a result, I only had one new set of tires for the final. My fault, fortunately, the car was fast.
I am very proud of the team – this year we have a fast car again. The guys did a great job, correctly interpreting the changes in the regulations, so that we have a competitive machine again. We are not so much inferior to the leaders, although we do not fight them. I hope tomorrow we will take advantage of the starting positions and earn a lot of points. “
Gunter Steiner, team leader: “Very good qualifications. The team did a great job in the winter, preparing for the season. Today we used the results of the work of the last ten months, during which the team developed and tested the car. Good day for Haas – thanks to the whole team. ”
